My wife was in an auto accident on 4/1/97. A much larger car slammed into her, while she was stopped waiting for a red light to change. Her car had only $700 damage and her life was changed forever.

Pre-accident my wife was a very successful and highly respected consultant, professional writer and professor at two of NYU's schools. She was recognized as an expert in her field. Post-accident she is totally disabled.

She hit her head on the headrest and sustained a "traumatic brain injury" (TBI). She totally lost her short-term memory, ability to learn and retain new information, speaking ability, balance, cognitive reasoning and emotional control. Shaking hands and poor coordination are just two more of the many problems TBI people have. Every meal was a disaster with spilled food and stained clothing. My wife was very disturbed by the spills on her clothing. After seeing her make
many spills, I crafted an adult bib – for her.

I made the first bibs for her in her favorite colors from a pattern I designed and cut out of a piece of newspaper. She loved them and so did many other people. They have asked me to make bibs for them because they are visually fun, attractive, unusual and protect people’s clothing. Many people, including
my wife, avoid having stains on their clothing thanks to the custom adult bibs called "YAMABIBS".

When my wife was injured in that car accident, everyone took  her normal choices - like color of the day's clothing, meal or food choices - away from her. Hospitals and rehab institutes are gloomy places. Disabled people are not given choices or asked their preferences. My wife needed to be surrounded by her favorite colors and to be cheered up by bright, happy patterns and colors. Yamabibs helped her feel less injured and disabled. Everyone loves choosing their favorite colors to wear at meal time.
